Yesterday I was awarded fashion photographer of the year 2009 at the “The famous revelation awards” gala yielded at the iconic “Casa da Musica” in Porto. This is a national prize intended to award the up-and-coming talent in the Portuguese fashion industry. I´m really happy with this prize and I hope to live up-to the expectations created.

Elle June cover editorial

And it happens again, my first collaboration with international magazine Elle, end´s up to be the cover. It had happen before with Maxima and this time with the June issue of Portuguese Elle. I could´t be happier. The model was Alina Boyko, and the shooting took place in the beautiful design hotel in Cascais, Lisbon. Thank´s to all the amazing crew, Mario Oliveira, Miguel Viana, Nana Benjamim, Rita Janeiro and Pedro Sá.

This is my first time In the pages of Maxim USA, and what a start. Four pages on the march issue, featuring australian supermodel Jessica Gomes, which I photographed for the Portuguese edition of FHM last September. I´m trilled that my first contact with the US market was through such a prestigious magazine. Jessica was also selected for the Maxim Hot 100 were she’ll stand next to other hotties like Jessica Alba or Scarlet Johnson.

Once again in partnership with apiccaps I publish one of my latest editorials in this prestigious magazine. This editorial was shot in the atelier of the famous Portuguese sculptor Paulo Neves. With the precious help of Paulo’s brother Pedro, we were able to pull this of, a 11 images editorial shot in one day in tremendously difficult weather conditions. The atelier is right in the middle of a forest, so mud was everywhere along with 95% moister in atmosphere

It’s a great pleasure to tell you that I got the latest cover of MAXIMA, the Portuguese affiliate of Madame Figaro. This is one of the finest fashion magazine in Portugal and it is great that I got the cover in my first collaboration with the magazine. It was a real honour to work on this project with such talented and prestigious people, Miguel Viana was in charge of the hair styling and Jorge Serio the make-up artist, Helena Assedio directed and I did my best to keep up to the expectations.

25º anniversary of Blitz Magazine

My assistant Pedro “gave us a hand”, Adolfo was extremely efficient and the image was ready in no time, so we spent the rest of the afternoon in the famous “Galerias de Paris” drinking coffee and chatting.

This time I made it to the cover, and what a cover. On their special edition celebrating their 25th anniversary, Blitz the nº1 Music magazine in Portugal, chose to feature on the cover “Adolfo Luxuria Canibal”, the lead singer of the band “Mão Morta” (translates to “Dead Hand”), a legendary Portuguese band that in it’s turn is celebrating 20 years on the road. This image was made a wile ago for the same magazine in my studio. My assistant Pedro “gave us a hand”, Adolfo was extremely efficient and the image was ready in no time, so we spent the rest of the afternoon in the famous “Galerias de Paris” drinking coffee and chatting.

This was our first collaboration with “oversize” magazine Must. Styled by Joyce Doret this was shot in the top of a building in Lisbon and the result was pretty cool. The magazine is printed in a huge size (39cmx29cm) so you can just imagine how those 29×58cm duble pages look like… Enjoy…

Karacter Calendar 2010

In association with the charity SIC Esperança, Karacter models invited 12 photographers and 12 stylists to crate 12 images for their annual charitable calendar. We were assigned for the December page featuring ten models from karacter and Tv hostess Sofia Carvalho. The shooting took place at Lisbon city hall main stairs. The styling was by Simonne Doret and Jaime Mascarenhas.

Armando Cabral featured on the cover of N*style Magazine

It’s out the November/December issue of N*style magazine, this time featuring on the cover the internationally acclaimed Portuguese model Armando Cabral. He is probably one of the most acclaimed models in the world and as been an exclusive in the runways of Dior Homme, Calvin Klein, Dries van Noten, Michael Kors and Louis Vuitton. Even ID magazine as published a huge interview where they claimed Armando to be their favourite in the NY Fashion week. He was considered a rising star by the New York Times and last year Mario Testino photographed him for V Man Magazine.

So you can imagine how excited I was, finally having the chance to work with him.

And it was a real pleasure to see that Armando is true gentleman, the shoot took two hours to finish ( a real record ) And I´m very happy with the result. Hope you enjoy it too.
